The kW-flexiburst laser will allow for manufacturing processes such as laser turning of precision components for industries such as micro components in medical devices, watches or shaped electrodes. These applications are reliant on ablation rates of > 20mm³/min which the kW-Flexiburst laser system will achieve with higher repetition rates.

Roughing and finishing steps are possible in this process making use of the flexibility of the kW-flexiburst laser. For roughing, the large part of the materials may be removed with high average power and comparatively low quality which will be improved in the finishing steps operating the laser with higher burst repetition rates. Further benefits are expected from the burst variability of the system. With the high power, pulse energy and pulse repetition rate, cylinders up to a few mm thickness may also be processed economically in the future opening a wide field of applications.
